This week's writing topic was steps in a process. There are so many fun things you can do with this. What did I decide to do? Yep.... How to Decorate a Cupcake. My kiddos were so excited when I pulled out the icing! YUM! Anything that involves food is a sure way to get them engaged. I baked mini cupcakes the night before, and then each student got icing and candy to put on top. While decorating the cupcake, they had to use their writer's notebook to jot down everything they were doing. When they were finished, they got to use what I call 'pretty paper' to write their final copy. Guess what!! Here is the FREE "How to Decorate a Cupcake" themed writing paper if you would like to do it with your kids.
If you would like to do an extension of this writing activity, I have one to purchase in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. The topic of this one is How to Make Christmas Cocoa. This comes with everything you need for a Christmas Writing Center on the topic of steps in a process. Click HERE to check out all the details.
