{Since I posted this, Super Teacher Worksheets has become a member site.  They do still have many freebies}

Does this guy look familiar to you?
If he doesn't, then all I can say is....... "Where have you been?"

Yes, he is from Super Teacher Worksheets, and he is a hero among hundreds of thousands of teachers.

I know, I make a lot of my own material, and I use lots of color and graphics, but let's be honest...

There is a time and a place for basic worksheets!

I can not tell you how many times I have hopped on the site SuperTeacherWorksheets.com to grab a quick worksheet.  Whether it is to use for a mini lesson as I project it to my Smartboard or to use as a review activity before a test, these worksheets can be so handy.

Because I have used so many of these worksheets, I have always wondered this....

WHO is making all this great stuff?

Well guess what!!

Tim is his name, and you are about to read my little interview. Enjoy!

Classroom Confections: Are you an educator, and if so, what is your background?  If not, what do you do other than superteacherworksheets?

Super Teacher Worksheets: I taught in elementary schools for eleven years.  I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, as well as a K-4 gifted program. Now I work on the website full-time. I used to teach full-time and run the site full-time.  When it became too much work balancing both jobs, I chose to shift my career and work on the website full-time. I have always enjoyed teaching, but the website is a new, fun career adventure for me.

There are two of us now - my cousin Chris works in the office with me as a full-time as a graphic-artist.  With my teaching background, I know the curriculum very well, and I write most of the written worksheets.  Chris has a background in art, so his specialty is designing worksheets that require graphics (example: geometry, maps, graphs, etc.).  I think we make a decent team and we both enjoy what we do.

Classroom Confections: What inspired you to start the site Super Teacher Worksheets?

Super Teacher Worksheets: When I was teaching, I made many of my own printable worksheets, activities, and games for my students.  I had hundreds of files on my computer that I had made and I wanted to share them with others.  I had made several websites since the mid-1990s, so a Internet seemed like a natural way to go about sharing my home-made materials with other teachers.

Classroom Confections: Is it just you who creates the material or do you have others?

Super Teacher Worksheets: my cousin Chris works with me as a full-time graphic artist.  He's quite talented and there's nothing graphical that he can't do.

Also, we don't write the reading comprehension passages ourselves.  We purchase articles, stories, and poems from freelance writers.  Everything else on the site is made by Chris and I.

Classroom Confections: When did you first start the site?

Super Teacher Worksheets: The site was launched in 2007 and it's grown quite a bit since then.   We now have thousands of worksheets and hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Classroom Confections: Where are you based out of?

Super Teacher Worksheets: Our office is near Buffalo, New York

Classroom Confections: Did you ever think the site would grow like it has?

Super Teacher Worksheets: It's grown more than I could have imagined.  The feedback we've received has been overwhelmingly positive.  People seem to enjoy the quantity, quality, and selection of resources we provide.  Thousands of people visit the site every school day - we're doing our best not to let them down.

Classroom Confections: How often do you add new material?

Super Teacher Worksheets:
We add new, printable worksheets almost every weekday.  Depending on how complex the worksheets are, we sometimes we can add a dozen in a day.  Other times we only finish one or two a day.  We try to accommodate teacher requests whenever possible.

We're trying to grow beyond basic worksheets - we're adding printable math games to the website, as well as blank maps, flashcards, and manipulative teaching tools.

We're also adding resources for Interactive Whiteboards.  Nearly every classroom in America has a SmartBoard or Promethean Board in it, so we're trying to add some new files that utilizes this new technology.  We've added a bunch of Promethean Flipchart lessons this month - and there will be many more to come.  Smartboard resources will be available in the near future.

Classroom Confections: What pleasure does the site bring to you?
Super Teacher Worksheets: I know how tough it is for teachers to find good materials to supplement the curriculum, and I can appreciate how much work goes into lesson planning.  I hope we're making their jobs a little bit easier.

Classroom Confections: Anything else you would like to share?

Super Teacher Worksheets: Just want to say that we appreciate all the traffic that the website gets, as well as all of the positive feedback we receive from teachers and parents.

So, to all of you wonderful teachers out there..... that is the guy behind Super Teacher Worksheets .
A great guy who is looking out for us teachers. Oh, and if you were wondering what he looks like.  Well, you are just going to have to look at the little Super Hero guy above because Mr. Tim is a tad camera shy... Can you say, "Bummer!"  Ha!   Hope you enjoyed.  Now, go download some Super Teacher Worksheets.

Oh, and Thanks Tim!
